Petition to Rep Trey Gowdy
For too long the Southern Poverty Law Center has been abusing their power. They have been labeling individuals and organizations as “haters” simply because they disagree with the SPLC’s left-wing agenda. Placing honorable and moral individuals in company with actual hate groups such as Neo-Nazis and the KKK on the sole basis of their belief in Biblical marriage is egregious.
To make matters worse, the media and numerous government agencies use this information from the Southern Poverty Law Center without doing any research of their own.
D. James Kennedy Ministries has been placed on this list, as well as many other Bible-believing, Christian ministries. In one case, a radical homosexual activist walked into a Christian ministry and began shooting after locating the ministry on the SPLC’s “hate map.” Grouping these ministries and individuals with actual haters is extremely dangerous and misleading, and it must not continue.
We are asking for your help in signing the petition we are sending to Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina. Rep. Gowdy is the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and we are asking him to hold hearings on the Southern Poverty Law Center to make them accountable for their erroneous and dangerous work.
Sign our Petition to Rep Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform asking for hearings on the SPLC.
Petition to Investigate the
Southern Poverty Law Center
Rep Trey Gowdy
Chairman of the Government Oversight Committee
We are alarmed by the raging Leftist war against Christian and conservative America, led by none other than the notorious Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
The SPLC denounces pro-family groups that stand for traditional marriage as “hate groups.” Reputable organizations such as D. James Kennedy Ministries, Family Research Council, Liberty Council, the American Family Association, and others have dangerously been identified on the SPLC’s “Hate Map.”
The SPLC’s agitation and propaganda have proven to incite violence, as evidenced in the 2012 shooting at Family Research Council and the recent tragedy at a Republican baseball practice.
Any person or organization of note who doesn’t fall in line with the SPLC’s political agendas—whether they promote family integrity, religious freedom, U.S. immigration law, or anything else—is liable to end up smeared as an SPLC-certified agent of hate.
We respectfully ask you to use the full influence of your office to investigate the SPLC, expose their false accusations and bias against organizations that promote a Biblical view of marriage and sexuality, and protect religious freedom in America.
